Private Pilot - Rotorcraft Helicopter

The Private Pilot certificate is your first step toward enjoying the wonders of three-dimensional flight. As a private helicopter pilot, you can fly for personal or business purposes. You DO NOT have to have any previous flight training or experience to begin learning.

According to the Federal Aviation Regulations "a person who applies for a private pilot certificate with rotorcraft category and helicopter class rating must log at least 40 hours of flight time that includes at least 20 hours of flight training from an authorized instructor and 10 hours of solo flight training." That training will include:

• 3 hours of cross-country flight training in a helicopter
• 3 hours of night flight training in a helicopter
• 3 hours solo cross-country time
• One solo cross-country flight of at least 75 nautical miles total distance
• 3 solo takeoffs and landings at an airport with an operating control tower

Our FAA-approved Part 141 Private Pilot course allows us to reduce the minimum total hours to 35 for qualified candidates.
